Japan Airlines Resumes Operations After Cyberattack Disrupts Flights

TOKYO – Japan Airlines (JAL) announced that its systems have returned to normal after a cyberattack caused delays to some domestic and international flights. The attack, which began at 7:24 a.m., affected both internal and external systems, leading the airline to temporarily shut down a router responsible for malfunctions.

Ticket sales for flights departing on Thursday were suspended, but the airline confirmed that no customer information was leaked, and it suffered no damage from computer viruses.

In contrast, ANA Holdings, Japan’s other major air carrier, reported no signs of a cyberattack on its systems. Meanwhile, American Airlines briefly grounded all flights for an hour on Christmas Eve due to a technical glitch involving network hardware, causing widespread disruptions for travelers.
