NATO Launches New Ukraine Command in Germany to Boost Support

NATO has officially launched its new command for Ukraine, based in Wiesbaden, Germany, to streamline military assistance and training efforts. Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli, hailed the operation as a significant step for both Ukraine and NATO, as it takes over responsibilities from the US-led Security Assistance Group-Ukraine.

The NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) command, staffed with 700 personnel from across NATO, will manage weapons deliveries, training programs, and coordination of military support for Ukrainian forces.

The creation of the NSATU command was approved during NATO’s Washington summit in July and is intended to ensure Ukraine’s military alignment with NATO standards, fostering interoperability.

It will also oversee the repair and transfer of military equipment critical for Ukraine’s defense operations. The new command is expected to play a key role in strengthening Ukraine’s position and NATO’s security in Europe and North America.
