Algeria’s FM Engages in One-on-One Discussion with His Burundian Counterpart

Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, held a one-on-one meeting on Thursday in Bujumbura with Albert Shingiro, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi. This meeting was part of Attaf’s official visit to Burundi as a special envoy of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, according to a statement from the ministry.

The discussions provided an opportunity for both parties to “review the current state and future prospects of relations between the two countries” and to “agree on specific measures to revitalize bilateral cooperation by enhancing and updating the legal framework, activating institutional cooperation mechanisms, and identifying priority areas that align with the potential and aspirations of both nations regarding development,” the statement noted.

Furthermore, the two ministers engaged in an “exchange of views and analyses on various issues and topics on the continental agenda,” the source concluded.
