African Start-up Conference: African Ministers Review the General Secretariat’s Program

African ministers convening at the ministerial meeting for the 3rd edition of the African Start-up Conference are focusing on the General Secretariat’s program and a roadmap to enhance Africa’s strategy for artificial intelligence (AI).

In a press statement made during the African Start-up Ministerial Summit, which is taking place alongside the conference from December 5-7, 2024, the Algerian Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, highlighted that “two key themes are on the agenda; the first involves reviewing the General Secretariat’s program for the 2025-2063 period, which will be approved later in the ministerial meeting.”

He also spoke about the “evaluation of a roadmap to support Africa’s artificial intelligence strategy, aimed at proposing solutions and initiatives that enable start-ups and innovators to harness AI for wealth creation across the continent. This aligns with the conference’s slogan, positioning AI as a catalyst for sustainable development and progress in Africa,” the minister added.

Emphasizing the importance of this ministerial meeting, Ouadah stated that Algeria “aspires to become a leader in the fields of start-ups and innovation,” noting that today’s discussions represent a significant milestone in the 3rd edition of the conference.

For context, the proceedings of the African Start-up Ministerial Summit began on Friday morning. The activities of the 3rd edition of the African Start-up Conference, which commenced on Thursday, will continue through December 7.
