Germany Grants €23 Million to Support Palestinian Municipalities

Germany has announced a €23 million grant to bolster municipal services in Palestine through the Municipal Development and Lending Fund (MDLF). The funding aims to enhance infrastructure, including roads, water, and waste management, while also providing emergency aid amid the ongoing crisis.
The agreements were signed by Palestinian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wael Zaqout and German Ambassador Oliver Owcza. Of the total grant, €12 million will support the fourth phase of the Palestinian Municipal Development Program, €6 million will strengthen village councils, and €5 million will deliver emergency financial aid to maintain essential services and create temporary jobs.
Minister Zaqout expressed gratitude to Germany, highlighting the grant’s potential to improve local services and strengthen Palestinian resilience. He underscored the need for sustained international cooperation to ensure the success and longevity of development initiatives in Palestine.
