Death toll in Thailand flooding jumps to 25

Flooding caused by heavy rains has claimed the lives of 25 individuals in southern Thailand, according to a new toll released on Tuesday by the national disaster management agency. The province of Songkhla has been the hardest hit, reporting nine fatalities.

Since November 22, the floods have affected over 660,000 households across ten regions, extending from Chumphon to the Malaysian border along the Gulf of Thailand. A previous report published on Sunday indicated that there were 12 confirmed deaths.

Thai authorities anticipate that adverse weather conditions will continue until Thursday. The government is coordinating relief efforts on the ground and has pledged 50 million baht (approximately 1.4 million EUR) in assistance for each affected province.

The flooding has also impacted neighboring Malaysia, where authorities reported five additional deaths on Tuesday. More than 94,000 individuals are waiting to return home after evacuating due to rising waters, according to official reports.
