Peskov Warns : US Pressure Could Accelerate Global Shift to National Currencies

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned on Monday that if the United States continues using economic pressure to enforce the use of the dollar, it may accelerate the global trend of switching to national currencies in foreign trade.
Peskov highlighted that more countries, not just those in the BRICS bloc, are increasingly moving toward using their own currencies for international transactions, a process gaining momentum worldwide. He noted that the dollar’s appeal is waning, and its “erosion” is gaining strength.
The statement comes amid US President-elect Donald Trump’s remarks on Saturday, where he threatened to impose 100% tariffs on BRICS countries unless they abandon plans to create an alternative currency to the US dollar.
