Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia will not permit Ukraine to acquire nuclear weapons, in response to discussions suggesting that Ukraine should regain access to nuclear capabilities.
Putin criticized these calls, asserting that they come from individuals who do not bear responsibility for the well-being of people or for maintaining global peace. He further warned that if Kiev were to obtain nuclear weapons, Russia would deploy “all our means of destruction” in response.
