UNRWA : 75,000 in Northern Gaza Face Dire Conditions as Aid is Blocked

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has raised alarms over the worsening survival conditions for an estimated 65,000 to 75,000 people still trapped in the northern Gaza Strip. In a post on X on Thursday, the agency revealed that for over 50 days, these individuals have endured increasingly dire circumstances due to ongoing Zionist aggression and a severe lack of humanitarian assistance.

Areas like Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun have been particularly impacted, with access to aid largely blocked by the conflict. Despite repeated attempts by the United Nations to deliver life-saving aid to these regions, the majority of efforts have been blocked or obstructed. Between October 6 and November 25, 2024, the UN made 91 attempts to reach these communities, with 82 of them being outright rejected and 9 obstructed, according to UNRWA’s reports.

The situation has been exacerbated by recent heavy rainfall and a significant drop in temperatures, leaving thousands of displaced families exposed to the elements. With no access to blankets, mattresses, or shelters, many are now facing the cold and wet conditions of winter, further endangering their lives.
