Importance of Partnership Between Algeria, USA Highlighted

ALGIERS- U.S. Under Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, Uzra Zeya, highlighted on Monday, the importance of the partnership between Algeria and the United States of America, stressing the two countries’ commitment to work together to promote fundamental freedoms and human rights.
In a statement following the meeting granted to her by President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, alongside the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf, Uzra Zeya said that the meeting provided an opportunity to “assess relations between the two countries, particularly in the security field.”
“We reiterated our commitment to working together to promote fundamental freedoms,” he added.
During our meeting, we “highlighted the historic progress made by both countries in terms of commercial cooperation, as well as in the fight against drug trafficking, terrorism, and human trafficking,” she said.
In this regard, she praised “the strong relations bounding the two peoples, as well as the enhancement of diplomatic ties between the two nations, by working together to address the challenges facing the region.”
“We are witnessing a historic increase in forced displacement, and we commend the efforts of Algerian authorities who are diligently addressing the issue of illegal migration in a safe, smooth, and humane manner,” Uzra stressed.
“We firmly believe that our bilateral partnership is essential for the stability, security, and prosperity of North Africa, the Sahel region, and its surroundings,” she said.
“Our bilateral cooperation continues to grow stronger, as we share a common commitment to upholding human rights,” she concluded.
