Biden’s Approval of Ukraine’s Long-Range Strikes on Russia Sparks Global Debate

U.S. President Joe Biden’s reported authorization for Ukraine to use American long-range missiles, including ATACMS, to strike deep into Russian territory has ignited a wave of global reactions, with sharp divisions emerging among political leaders, entrepreneurs, and diplomats. Critics and supporters of the decision have weighed in, reflecting a wide spectrum of opinions on the implications of this move for international stability and the ongoing conflict.

Prominent critics, including Donald Trump Jr., GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Elon Musk, have raised concerns about escalating tensions and the potential for a broader conflict. Trump Jr. described proponents of the move as “imbeciles” seeking to ignite a third world war, while Greene accused Biden of recklessly provoking World War III. Musk warned of reciprocal responses from Russia. International voices such as Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and China’s U.S. embassy spokesperson Liu Pengyu also condemned the decision, emphasizing risks of escalation.

Conversely, support for Biden’s decision came from figures like EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who framed the move as a justified act of self-defense for Ukraine. U.S. Democratic Congressman Jake Auchincloss and European Parliament member Thijs Reuten praised the decision as a necessary escalation to strengthen Ukraine’s resistance. Alex Soros also celebrated the development, underscoring its significance for Ukraine’s strategic capabilities.

The debate highlights the geopolitical complexities of the conflict, with Biden’s decision further polarizing opinions on how the war in Ukraine should proceed.
