Algeria: FM Attaf receives phone call from U.S. counterpart

ALGIERS – The Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf received on Sunday a phone call from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, according to a statement from the Ministry.
During the call, the U.S. Secretary of State reiterated President Joe Biden’s congratulations to the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on his re-election for a second term.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress made in strengthening economic relations and enhancing strategic dialogue between the two countries, with a shared commitment to maintaining and building upon this momentum in the future.
The two officials also exchanged views on several issues on the United Nations Security Council agenda, including Gaza and Western Sahara, as well as the proposal to establish a U.N. peacekeeping mission in Haiti, as noted in the statement.
