UNRWA Chief Calls Gaza’s Destruction “Unimaginable” as Casualties Soar

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini expressed grave concern on Thursday over the “unimaginable” levels of destruction in Gaza, where the humanitarian crisis has reached new extremes. Lazzarini’s statement came as Palestinian health authorities reported a staggering toll of 43,736 dead and 103,370 wounded since the outbreak of violence on October 7, 2023.
The UNRWA chief warned that the agency and its staff, along with millions of Palestinian refugees, are facing critical challenges, urging UN member states to act decisively to prevent a complete suspension of its operations by the Zionist entity. He also called for continued financial support for the agency to maintain its vital services to those affected.
As Gaza grapples with relentless airstrikes and severe humanitarian strain, Lazzarini’s remarks underscore the urgent need for international solidarity and increased funding to address the growing crisis.
