UNSC: A3+ Group Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza to Restore Peace

The A3+ group at the UN Security Council advocated on Wednesday for “an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza,” asserting that this measure is “essential for reestablishing lasting peace in the region.”

During a speech delivered to the Security Council members in their meeting on the Middle East situation, the representative from Guyana emphasized that “the A3+ group (comprising Algeria, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and Guyana) firmly believes that an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza represents the crucial first step towards restoring sustainable peace in the region.”

Highlighting the A3+ group’s “serious concerns” regarding “the repercussions of the ongoing conflict in the region,” the representative reiterated the group’s “determination” to “ensure the security of Yemen and its people.”

“We reaffirm our commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Yemen. We call upon all Yemeni parties to engage constructively under the auspices of the UN to conclude the conflict and achieve a successful political transition based on the agreed mandate,” she concluded.
