
Algerian national football team coach, Vladimir Petkovic, announced on Thursday the list of 26 players selected for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Equatorial Guinea and Liberia. The team will face Equatorial Guinea in Malabo on Thursday, November 14, at 2:00 PM (local time), and Liberia in Algeria on Sunday, November 17, at 5:00 PM. These matches are part of the fifth and sixth rounds of Group E in the qualifiers.
During a press conference held at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki, Petkovic revealed the squad, which includes the return of players such as Fares Chaibi (Eintracht Frankfurt/Germany), Bashir Belloumi (Hull City/England), and Himad Abdelli (Angers SCO/France), along with the inclusion of Amin Chiacka from FC Copenhagen (Denmark).
The Algerian team will first travel to Malabo to face Equatorial Guinea before returning home to host Liberia at the Hussein Ait Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou. In the last two rounds of the qualifiers held in October, Algeria won both matches: 5-1 in Annaba and 1-0 in Lomé, securing their qualification for the final tournament.
Algeria currently leads Group E with 12 points, followed by Equatorial Guinea with 7 points. Togo is in third place with 2 points, while Liberia is at the bottom with 1 point. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
