Italian Eni sells oil fields to American Hilcorp

MILAN – Italian energy group Eni announced on Monday that it has received $1 billion from the sale of 100% of its oil fields in Nikaitchuq and Oooguruk off the coast of Alaska to American oil company Hilcorp.
The transaction aligns with Eni’s strategy to streamline its upstream activities (production and exploration) by rebalancing its portfolio and divesting non-strategic assets, the company stated in a press release.
The deal has received approval from all relevant authorities, allowing Eni to finalise the transaction.
As part of its strategic plan, Eni had committed to divesting assets worth €8 billion between 2024 and 2027. Given completed and ongoing transactions, Eni now expects to meet this target by 2025.
