UNSC Approves Press Statement Initiated by Algeria in Support of UNRWA

Members of the United Nation’s Security Council have unanimously endorsed a press statement initiated by Algeria to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
In this statement, the Security Council members expressed “deep concern” regarding a bill passed by the Knesset, urging the occupying power to “comply with its international obligations and respect the privileges and immunities of UNRWA.”
They also called on the occupying entity to “fulfill its responsibilities by ensuring complete, rapid, and secure access for humanitarian aid in all its forms to the Gaza Strip and all its areas, including the provision of essential services needed by the civilian population of Gaza.”
Algeria has “strongly condemned” the adoption of two laws by the occupying entity that aim to obstruct UNRWA’s activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, describing this as a flagrant violation of fundamental principles of international law. This condemnation was articulated in a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad on Tuesday.
