Algeria Strongly Condemns Zionist Entity’s Bills Against UNRWA

ALGIERS- Algeria has condemned “in the strongest possible terms” Zionist entity’s adoption of two bills to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating in the occupied Palestinian territories, in a blatant violation of the basic principles of the international law, the Algerian ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Tuesday in a statement.

The measure which “follows on from the ill-considered attack that has been waged for years by the Zionist entity against the agency, and the targeting of this symbol that underlines the Palestinian right of return and to indemnification, in line with the international law, will have devastating humanitarian fallout for millions of Palestinian refugees depending on UNRWA services,” the statement said.

Algeria, reiterating support for the UNRWA, stressed that “there is no alternative to this UN mechanism, which is the backbone of humanitarian action in the occupied Palestinian territories.”

“It is essential to enable it to fulfil its mandate until the establishment of the independent and sovereign State of Palestine and find a fair solution to the refugee issue, in accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution 194.”
