Sudan: Total Cholera Cases Reach 28,376

The Sudanese Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that the number of cholera infections has surged to 28,376 across five states in Sudan.
In its statement, the ministry reported, “In the last few hours, we have recorded 50 new cholera cases across five states: Kassala, Gedaref (East), Nile (North), and Al-Jazira (Central).”
The department also noted that “no new deaths related to cholera have been reported.”
According to the ministry, the total count of cholera infection cases has reached 28,376 since last August, with 836 fatalities. However, it emphasized that the rate of cholera infections has declined in most states.
On August 12, Sudanese authorities declared a cholera outbreak in the country. This health crisis coincides with ongoing turmoil stemming from the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This conflict, which has persisted since April 2023, has resulted in approximately 20,000 deaths and displaced over 14 million people, according to the latest data from the UN.
