Algeria Launches First Chinese Language Department at University of Algiers II

A Chinese language department was officially inaugurated at the University of Algiers II, marking the first establishment of its kind in an Algerian university. This milestone is seen as a significant step in enhancing cultural and educational cooperation between Algeria and China.
During the inauguration ceremony, Zhao Pingsheng, Charge d’Affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Algeria, emphasized that the new department symbolizes the growing partnership between the two nations. He described language as a crucial vehicle for cultural heritage, a bridge for fostering friendly exchanges, and a link for mutual learning between civilizations.
Choukri Ali, the special representative of Algeria’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, highlighted the ministry’s commitment to promoting inter-university exchanges and partnerships between Algeria and China. He noted that the Chinese language department serves as a symbol of friendship between the two countries, providing Algerian students with a valuable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and society.
