Pakistan: 20 Workers Killed in Attacks on Several Coal Mines

Twenty workers were killed and six others injured in attacks on multiple coal mines in the southwestern province of Balochistan during the early hours of Friday morning, according to officials.
The incidents occurred in the Duki district, where unidentified assailants detonated grenades in at least ten coal mines, resulting in casualties among the workers present, stated the district’s political chief, Haji Khairullah Nasir.
He further noted that the attackers set fire to the mines and extraction equipment before fleeing the scene.
District police reported that some miners had been gathered together and shot by the assailants.
The bodies and the injured, many of whom sustained serious injuries, were transported to a nearby hospital. Police indicated that most of the victims were residents from various districts within Balochistan.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
