Russia Denies Trump’s Claims of Near Denuclearization Deal with China and the U.S.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has refuted former President Donald Trump’s assertions that his administration was close to finalizing a denuclearization deal involving Russia, China, and the United States. Trump claimed that during his tenure, the three nations were on the verge of an agreement to eliminate nuclear weapons, with intentions to expand the deal to include other countries. However, Ryabkov emphasized that Trump’s statements do not align with reality.

Ryabkov pointed out that the attempts made by the Trump administration to bring Chinese representatives to the negotiating table with Russia were ultimately unsuccessful. He indicated that these negotiations did not yield any results, contradicting Trump’s optimistic portrayal of the diplomatic efforts. The Russian official’s comments highlight the complexities and challenges surrounding nuclear disarmament discussions, particularly in the context of U.S.-China-Russia relations, where mutual distrust and differing national interests often hinder progress.
