State Visit of President of India to Algeria from October 13-15

Indian President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a state visit to Algeria from October 13 to 15, 2024, at the invitation of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. This high-level visit marks an important step in strengthening the relationship between India and Algeria, two nations with long-standing ties and shared interests across various sectors, including energy, defense, and space cooperation.

During her visit, President Murmu will engage in bilateral talks with President Tebboune, where discussions are expected to focus on deepening strategic partnerships and exploring new avenues for cooperation. Additionally, several key Algerian dignitaries, including the President of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) and the President of the National People’s Assembly (Lower House of Parliament), are scheduled to meet with her. These meetings highlight the importance both nations place on fostering political and parliamentary ties.

President Murmu’s agenda will also include addressing the India-Algeria Economic Forum, which is poised to bring together business leaders and investors from both countries to discuss opportunities in trade and economic collaboration. She will visit the Sidi Abdellah Science and Technology Pole University, showcasing India’s commitment to educational and scientific exchanges. Furthermore, the President will inaugurate the “India Corner” at the Hamma Garden in Jardin d’essai, symbolizing the cultural and historical connections between the two nations. This visit is anticipated to further enhance diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between India and Algeria, fostering a deeper partnership for the future.
