Oran Arab Film Festival: 14 Short Fiction Films in Competition

Fourteen short fiction films are in the running for the coveted “Golden Wihr” at the 12th edition of the Oran Arab International Film Festival (FIOFA), set to take place from October 4 to 10.

This year, the Oran Cinematheque, centrally located in the western capital of Algeria, will be the venue for this exciting competition. The event kicks off next Saturday, featuring screenings of “Youm” by Bahraini director Ahmed Bakr, “Kora” by Algerian director Ahmed Saïfi, “Lini Afriko” by Tunisian filmmaker Marouane Lebbib, “Transit” by Iraqi director Baker Roubaïi, and “Walidouka Ala El Ardjah” by the Tolba brothers from Mauritania.

On Sunday, audiences can look forward to “Maoussem” by Lebanese director Hussein Ibrahim, “Dianett El Maa” by Omani filmmaker Haitham Souleimen, “Nahnou Fi Hadja ila Moussâadat El Kawne” by Egyptian director Ahmed Imad, “Winek Anta” by Jordanian filmmaker Mohamed Kota, and “Wahda Afdhal” by Iraqi director Rikar Barzane.

The competition continues on Monday with four additional entries: “205” by Libyan director Faradj Mâayouf, “Karar” (Decision) by Algerian director Abdallah Nemiche, “Saïd” by Saudi filmmaker Rami Ezzaïr, and “Khorda” by Syrian director Firas Mohamed.

An esteemed jury comprising Algerian actor Nidhal El-Mellouhi, Jordanian director Layali Badr, and Syrian filmmaker Djoud Saïd will evaluate all the films to determine the winner.
