First Algeria-Slovakia Political Consultations Held in Algiers

ALGIERS – The Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Lounes Magramane, co-chaired in Algiers, with his Slovak counterpart, Marek Estok, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, the first session of the Algerian-Slovak political consultations at the level of Secretaries General, the ministry said in a press release.

The two parties reviewed “the bilateral relations as well as means to consolidate and promote economic, commercial and technical cooperation,” hailing the Slovaks’ willingness to re-open the embassy of the Republic of Slovakia in Algiers, in the forthcoming months,” said the press release.

The political consultations also dealt with “regional and international issues of common interest, notably the developments of the Middle-East, the issues of Western Sahara, Libya and the Sahel region,” said the same source.

In this respect, both parties agreed to boost consultations in support of the international efforts aiming at achieving a lasting settlement of these crises,” the press release concluded.
