FM Ahmed Attaf arrives in NY to take part in the 79th session of the UNGA

The Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, arrived in New York to represent his country at the High-Level Week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

FM Ahmed Attaf will participate in the “Summit of the Future,” scheduled for September 22 and 23. Moreover, he will address the assembly in the General Debate from September 24 to 30, under the theme “Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations.”

As part of Algeria’s membership in the UN Security Council, the minister will take part in several high-level meetings organised in conjunction with the General Assembly. Particularly, a discussion session requested by the Algerian delegation on the Palestinian cause, as well as a meeting called by the Slovenian presidency of the Security Council on enhancing the role of multilateralism in promoting international peace and security.

On the sidelines, FM Attaf will participate in meetings of the geopolitical groups to which Algeria belongs, such as the Arab League, the African Union, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Group of 77 and China. The Algerian minister will also hold bilateral meetings with his international counterparts.
