Algeria and Qatar to Establish Infant Formula Production Facility

On Thursday in Algiers, Ali Aoun, the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, met with Mohamad Moutaz Al-Khayyat, Chairman of the Board of the Qatari company Baladna, to talk about establishing an infant formula production facility, according to a statement from the ministry.
During the meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters, which included a delegation accompanying the chairman as well as the Qatari ambassador to Algeria, Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, Aoun emphasized the significance of this “vital” project and underscored the importance of adhering to international quality standards within the sector.
The minister also expressed the sector’s readiness to support the project and to provide the necessary assistance and facilities for its success, in coordination with various relevant sectors, the statement added.
In this context, Aoun praised the bilateral relations between Algeria and Qatar, noting that these ties would be further strengthened with the realization of additional projects in fields such as the pharmaceutical industry, metallurgy, and packaging, as specified in the document.
For his part, the Chairman of Baladna expressed satisfaction with the “development of Algerian-Qatari relations in the industrial sector,” particularly regarding the establishment of the infant formula production plant, which is set to commence following the signing of a memorandum of understanding on Thursday afternoon.
The Qatari side welcomed the prospect of expanding cooperation in the industrial sector to include other areas, the statement concluded.
