Military Strikes Kill Over 100 terrorists Amid Rising Violence in Niger

Nigerien ground and air strikes killed more than 100 terrorists according to a Nigerien official statement. This follows an ongoing series of violent incidents in the region. On Monday, in the southwest Diffa region, which has been a hotspot for frequent attacks by terrorist groups, Boko Haram and the West African branch of the Islamic State group.

The Nigerien army carried out what it described as a “surgical strike” that resulted in the killing of several terrorists responsible for the attack. The Nigerian army confirmed that five soldiers were killed and 27 others wounded during this assault.

Following the attack, the Nigerien army initiated a pursuit operation to track down the fleeing assailants, who were reported to be heading toward the Libyan border.
