Hydrocarbons : Sonatrach and Chevron Confirm Partnership

The Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of SONATRACH Group, Rachid Hachichi, accompanied by a delegation of senior officials from the complex, held a working meeting on Monday with a delegation from the American company Chevron, led by Vice President Liz Schwarz, in Houston. This meeting is part of Hachichi’s working visit to the USA, according to a statement from the group.

The visit coincides with the global energy conference “Gastek,” which is set to begin on Tuesday. The discussions focused on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in hydrocarbon development and explore new opportunities to enhance the future partnership with Chevron.

As a reminder, Sonatrach signed heads of agreement with the American company Chevron FII International Limited on June 11, aimed at developing hydrocarbon resources in identified interest areas in the basins of Ahnet and Berkine. This agreement serves as a platform to explore development opportunities in these basins, emphasizing operational efficiency, cutting-edge technologies, and best practices in sustainability and environmental preservation.

The agreement was signed at Sonatrach’s headquarters, with Rachid Hachichi presiding, alongside Liz Schwarz and Chevron executives. In his address during the signing ceremony, Hachichi highlighted that this “historic” agreement would allow Sonatrach to pursue promising opportunities in the national mining sector and achieve the shared ambition of responsibly exploiting the country’s hydrocarbon resources. For Hachichi, the agreement aims to “realize a shared vision between Sonatrach and Chevron, enabling both parties to explore ways to harness Algeria’s existing potential and vast energy resources.”
