Sudan: Cholera Death Toll Rises to 252

The Sudanese Ministry of Health has reported an additional 10 deaths linked to the cholera outbreak, raising the total to 252 since last August. In a statement released on Thursday, the ministry indicated that “194 new cholera cases have been recorded, bringing the overall number of infections to 7,296 across 8 out of 18 states.”

The report also highlighted “the registration of 10 new fatalities, increasing the death toll to 252.” On Wednesday evening, the same department announced that the cholera death toll had reached 242 since last August.

On August 12, Sudanese authorities declared a cholera outbreak in the country. This year, the nation is grappling with both natural and health disasters amid ongoing turmoil. The conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has persisted since April 2023, has resulted in approximately 20,000 deaths and left nearly 10 million people displaced or seeking refuge, according to the United Nations.
