
ALGIERS – Ahmed Ibrahim Boukhari, the acting Director General of Legal Affairs and Constitutional Justice, announced on Tuesday evening that the President of the Constitutional Court, Omar Belhadj, has appointed rapporteurs from two working groups to review the appeals lodged with the Court regarding the preliminary results of the recent presidential election.
In a statement to Algerian television, Boukhari confirmed that the appeals were submitted by two candidates in the September 7 presidential election : Abdelaali Hassani Cherif and Youcef Aouchiche. Following the receipt of these appeals, President Belhadj took steps to establish the working groups, which will carefully examine the reports and recount the ballots. The process also awaits the final vote centralization report from the election commission of the national community abroad.
Boukhari added that the Constitutional Court is working within the legal framework, with a deadline of 10 days to announce the final results of the presidential election. This period begins once the necessary reports are received.
