Spanish PM Announces First Bilateral Summit with Palestine This Year

MADRID – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced that Spain and Palestine will hold their first bilateral summit later this year to strengthen their ties. The summit aims to sign several collaboration agreements between the two states, showcasing a commitment to enhancing diplomatic and cooperative relations.

Sanchez made the announcement during the opening ceremony of the political year in Madrid, emphasizing Spain’s ongoing support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). This support underscores Spain’s dedication to addressing the humanitarian needs of Palestinian refugees.

In a coordinated international effort, Spain, along with Norway and Ireland, recognized Palestine as a state in May. This recognition came amidst global concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza following Zionist military operation, reflecting a broader push to address and alleviate the crisis.
