Swedish Foreign Minister Announces Resignation

Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström announced on Wednesday that he is resigning from his position and withdrawing from political life. Having served in this role since the coalition government took office in October 2022, the 50-year-old conveyed in a message posted on X that he informed Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson of his resignation with a mix of “sadness and pride.”
“I will now leave politics, which means I will also relinquish my seat as a Member of Parliament,” he stated ahead of the reopening of the Swedish Parliament next week. “What I will do next is still open to discussion. However, being only 50 years old, I look forward to contributing and working hard in various contexts,” he added.
