Algeria : Women’s Role in Entrepreneurship Continually Evolving in Recent Years

Women’s involvement in entrepreneurship has steadily grown over recent years in Algeria. In 2007, women constituted 28% of registered traders, and by 2023, this number had increased to 41%. This growth highlights the rising economic empowerment and entrepreneurial spirit among Algerian women.

The progress is attributed to supportive public policies, including funding, training, and other measures designed to foster female entrepreneurship. These initiatives have helped overcome sociocultural barriers and stereotypes that previously hindered women’s participation in business.
