Mpox : Bavarian Nordic to accelerate mpox vaccine production

The Danish biotech firm, Bavarian Nordic BAVA.CO, announced on Saturday its plan to increase the production of the mpox vaccine.

Bavarian Nordic, one of the few medical firms that produces the mpox vaccine, informed the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of its capacity to manufacture 10 million doses of the vaccine by the end of 2025, including a supply of 2 million doses for this year.

Aiming to prevent unfair vaccine distribution, the firm will collaborate with international health organisations, namely, Africa CDC and WHO, to ensure accessibility amidst the global health emergency.
