Death of the General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party: Goudjil Signs Condolence Book at the Vietnamese Embassy

Algiers, July 24, 2024 – On behalf of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Salah Goudjil, signed the condolence book today at the Vietnamese Embassy in Algiers following the death of the General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party, Mr. Nguyễn Phú Trọng, according to a statement from the council.
The message of condolence read: “With deep sorrow and sadness, I received the news of the passing of the General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party, Mr. Nguyễn Phú Trọng, after a prolonged battle with illness. On this tragic occasion that has befallen the friendly Vietnamese people, I can only extend, on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Algerian government, and its people, my sincerest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, its citizens, party, and government.”
He added, “With the passing of Mr. Nguyễn Phú Trọng, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has lost a wise activist and an exceptional leader recognized in history for his significant contributions to the development of his country across political, diplomatic, economic, and cultural spheres, leaving behind enduring marks in the journey of building a modern and prosperous state.”
Concluding his remarks, the President of the Council of the Nation said, “While renewing my deepest condolences, I would like to affirm Algeria’s solidarity with your friendly country during this painful time, confident that the Vietnamese people will overcome this difficult ordeal.”
