Bangladesh Supreme Court dwindles job quotas to 5% after deadly clashes

In the second day of the curfew with almost 115 people killed, Bangladesh top court has decreased the veterans’ relatives job quotas to 5% including 2% for ethnic minorities and people with disabilities, leaving therefore, 93% of recruitments to be out of merit.
Law Minister Anisul Huq welcomed the verdict, so did a spokesman for one of the student groups, but added to AFP “we won’t call off our protests until the government issues an order reflecting our demands.”
Clashes between pro and anti-quota law extended to the Bangladeshi community in east London and near the White House, causing injuries and several damages.
